How to Check Gazette Status & Download the e-Gazette Online

Filed your application and wondering how to track it or get the official copy? Here's how gazette status, download and verification actually work.

Checking your gazette status and downloading the e-Gazette

Once your name-change application is filed, two questions come up: how do I check the status, and how do I get the official copy. Here's a plain guide to both β€” how gazette status works, how to download the published e-Gazette PDF, and how the copy is verified.

1. Checking the status of your application

After filing, you receive an acknowledgement number (with us, within 24–48 hours of payment). That reference is how the application is tracked. Publication then follows the Government Press's own schedule, so there isn't an instant "approved" button β€” it's a monitored wait. When you work with us, we monitor for publication twice daily, Monday to Saturday, so you're not left refreshing a portal. You can also track progress with our process-stage guide.

2. Downloading the published e-Gazette PDF

Once published, your notification appears in the official gazette record and can be downloaded as a PDF:

When we handle your case, we share the digital e-Gazette PDF once it's published, and courier three physical copies β€” one premium 250 GSM copy and two stamped True Copies β€” so you have both the digital and physical proof authorities may ask for. Which gazette applies to you depends on your case; see Central vs Gujarat State Gazette.

3. Verifying a gazette copy

Because the gazette is an official published record, an authority can verify a notification against the published gazette using its issue details. Keep your PDF and physical copies safe β€” you'll present them when updating each document. A gazette copy doesn't "expire", but each authority applies its own rules on what it accepts.

Lost your gazette copy?

Since the notification is part of the published record, a copy can usually be retrieved from the relevant e-Gazette system using your publication details. Keep your acknowledgement number and publication reference; if you're unsure, we can help you locate it.

What "checking gazette online" does not do

Checking status or downloading the PDF is not the same as updating your documents. The gazette is proof; you still apply to each authority (UIDAI for Aadhaar, the Income Tax Department for PAN, Passport Seva, and so on) separately. See updating documents after your gazette and the complete guide.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I check my gazette application status?
After filing you get an acknowledgement number, which is used to track the application. Publication follows the Government Press's schedule, so it's a monitored wait rather than an instant status β€” when you work with us, we monitor for publication twice daily (Mon–Sat) and keep you updated.
How do I download my gazette copy online?
Once published, the notification can be downloaded as a PDF from the relevant e-Gazette system β€” egazette.gujarat.gov.in for state notifications, or egazette.gov.in for the Gazette of India. We also share your digital PDF and courier three physical copies.
Is downloading the e-Gazette free?
The published gazette is available through the official e-Gazette systems. When we handle your case, the digital PDF and three couriered copies are part of the service.
I lost my gazette copy β€” can I get it again?
Usually yes. Because the notification is part of the published record, a copy can be retrieved from the relevant e-Gazette system using your publication details. Keep your acknowledgement number and publication reference handy.
Does checking or downloading the gazette update my documents?
No. The gazette is proof of your name change; you still apply to each authority separately to update Aadhaar, PAN, passport, bank and other records. We guide the order afterwards.
