Thousands of people search for a “Gujarat gazette name change list” or a “Rajkot gazette name change list 2026 PDF” expecting one alphabetical document with every name on it. That document does not exist — and knowing what does exist is the difference between finding your entry in two minutes and hunting for it all afternoon. Search on the spelling as printed on the form, not the spelling you prefer. A missing middle name, “Kumar” written as “Kumаr”, or an initial that was expanded on the form but abbreviated in your memory will all return No records found even though the notice was published. If one field fails, empty it and try a different one — do not fill in everything at once.
If you want the actual document — the thing a bank or a passport office will ask for — you need the issue PDF, and that comes from Recent Gazette or Search Gazette Here!.

A large share of the people looking for this list type “Rajkot” into the search box, and there is a real reason for it that almost nobody explains.
Gujarat’s gazettes are printed and published from three government presses: the Government Central Press at Gandhinagar, the Government Press at Vadodara, and the Government Press at Rajkot. But the government runs a single dedicated helpline specifically for name/surname and birth-date change gazettes, and that helpline is the Rajkot one. It is published on the portal’s own home page:

This is the Government of Gujarat’s own helpline, published on egazette.gujarat.gov.in and verified there on 26 August 2026. It is not ours, we do not answer it, and there is no charge for calling it. 0281 is the Rajkot STD code and rjt in the address stands for Rajkot — which is why the name-change gazette has become associated with Rajkot in people’s minds.
What this means for your search is reassuring: you do not need a “Rajkot” list. The Name/Surname Change Search covers the whole state in one place, and you narrow it with the district you actually filed from — Rajkot, Rajkot (Municipal Corporation), Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Surat or any of the others. Searching for a Rajkot-only PDF is looking for a document that was never produced.
Not as a single consolidated file, and it is worth being blunt about this because a lot of pages imply otherwise.
There is no official PDF titled “name change list 2026”, no alphabetical index of everyone whose name was published this year, and no district-wise roll you can download in one click. What exists is a set of dated issue PDFs, free, on the government portal — and a person-level search that points you to yours.
If a third-party site offers you a “Rajkot gazette name change list 2026 PDF” as a file, ask yourself where it came from. At best it is a copy of one day’s official issue, re-hosted and possibly out of date. At worst it is bait for a paid “service” you do not need, because the real document is free from the government. The stage that quietly costs people months is Return. Nobody phones you about it. If you applied, assumed it was moving, and never searched again, a returned file can sit untouched for a very long time. Checking once a fortnight during the wait costs nothing.
No records found almost never means “your application was refused”. In our experience it is one of these, roughly in order of how often it happens:
That last one catches more people than you would expect — it is worth reading the difference between an affidavit and a gazette notification before concluding that something went wrong.
The District/Taluka/Village filter is a fixed dropdown, not a free-text box — so it is worth knowing in advance which entry yours falls under. Eight of Gujarat’s cities appear twice, once as a district and once as a municipal corporation, and picking the wrong one is a quiet way to get No records found. These are the options exactly as the portal lists them (verified 26 August 2026):

Try the plain district entry first, then the municipal corporation entry. If neither works, clear the field completely — the search runs perfectly well on a name and a date range alone, and leaving the district blank removes a whole category of false negatives.
This is legitimate and it is free. A gazette is a public record — that is the entire point of publishing a name change rather than keeping it in a drawer. Employers verifying a new joiner’s documents, landlords checking a tenant’s identity, buyers confirming that the seller on an old property deed is the same person named on today’s papers, and banks reconciling a KYC mismatch all use the same public search.
You will need at least one exact detail — the old name, the new name or the application number. You cannot browse the register at will, and there is no way to pull a bulk list of everyone in a district, which is a sensible privacy boundary rather than a missing feature.
Where this gets harder is when the entry is old, the spelling on your paperwork differs from the spelling that was published, or you need the exact issue number, part and page cited in a legal document. That is a tracing job rather than a search, and it is one of the things we do.

The portal has a language switch marked ગુજરાતી at the top of every page, which changes the interface labels. The name you type should still match what was written on the application form — if the form was filled in English, search in English even while reading the page in Gujarati.
