What's happening
Your ration card e-KYC is failing because the name on the ration card doesn't match your Aadhaar. Ration-card e-KYC verifies each member against Aadhaar, so any difference in spelling, initials or surname order β or a name that changed on one record but not the other β can cause the verification to fail.
Why it happens
- The ration card and Aadhaar show different spellings or name order.
- A name changed after marriage (common for the ration card) but wasn't updated on both.
- A member's Aadhaar was corrected after the ration card was issued.
Is a Gujarat Gazette required?
Usually not for a simple mismatch. The fix is normally to align the two records β correct the ration card or Aadhaar so they agree β through the concerned department. A Gazette is relevant only where there's a genuine name change you need recognised across records. We'll tell you honestly which applies.
How to fix it
- Compare the exact name on the ration card and on Aadhaar for that member.
- Decide which record is correct and align the other through the concerned department.
- For a genuine name change (e.g., after marriage), establish it via a Gazette so both records β and others β can be updated consistently.
- Re-attempt the ration-card e-KYC once the names agree.
Important
Ration-card and Aadhaar updates are processed by the concerned government departments under their own rules. We help with the name documentation where a formal change is involved.
