What's happening
LPG subsidy is transferred to your bank account and linked through your Aadhaar. If your gas connection is held in a name that differs from your Aadhaar or bank β a maiden name after marriage, or a spelling difference β the subsidy transfer or KYC can fail, and the connection record needs aligning.
Why it happens
- The connection is in a maiden name after marriage.
- A spelling or initial differs from your Aadhaar or bank.
- The bank linked for subsidy shows a different name.
- The connection was transferred but records weren't aligned.
Is a Gujarat Gazette required?
Sometimes. For a minor correction, the distributor's own process with a supporting document may be enough. Where a genuine name change is behind it, a Gazette establishes one consistent name for the connection, Aadhaar and bank to share.
How to fix it
- Align Aadhaar and bank to one correct name first (subsidy depends on them).
- Update the gas connection with the distributor to that same name.
- Confirm the subsidy link once all three agree.
Aadhaar and bank first
Because subsidy runs through your Aadhaar and bank, align those first. Correcting only the connection while they still differ won't restore the subsidy.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Fixing the connection before Aadhaar and bank agree.
- Assuming a Gazette updates the connection automatically.
- Not disclosing every version of the name.
- Overlooking the bank account linked for subsidy.
See the gas connection guide and Aadhaar name correction; the distributor and oil company decide under their own rules.
