How many people change their name through the Gujarat Gazette, which districts they come from, and how many pay for the urgent route. We counted every notice in all 40 weekly Part-II issues of 2026 from the Government’s own PDFs. The Government does not publish this summary, and we know of no one else who does.
All figures are GujaratGazette.com counts from public Gujarat Government Gazette PDFs, refreshed every week. Last updated 7 October 2026.
Part-II is printed by the Rajkot Government Press once a week, usually on Thursday, and carries every ordinary name and surname change approved that week across Gujarat. Each bar below is one issue. The gold bar is the biggest week so far.
Smallest issue: No. 14 (2 Apr 2026) with 788 entries. Together the 40 issues ran to 10,814 printed pages. Every issue, with its official PDF link, is listed on our Gujarat Gazette PDF download page. Download the weekly data (CSV).
Months have four or five Thursdays, so compare the per-week column rather than the totals.

District comes from the address as written by the applicant. A person living in one district but naming a neighbouring city, or using an old district name, is counted where the address points. For Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot and Vadodara we also have city guides.
Not everyone waits for the weekly list. An applicant who pays ₹2,500 (Annexure-2, Extra Ordinary, urgent) or ₹1,000 (Annexure-3, standalone) instead of the standard ₹300 (Annexure-1) gets a separate one-page notice in Part-II Extra. These notices carry their own running number, which restarts each January, so the portal’s count is a clean measure of how many people chose to pay more.
| Month | Part-II Extra notices |
|---|---|
| January | 814 |
| February | 761 |
| March | 820 |
| April | 847 |
| May | 770 |
| June | 904 |
| July | 1,085 |
| August | 784 |
| September | 981 |
| October (to 7 Oct) | 175 |
That is about 863 a month, or roughly 1 in 8 of all name-change publications in the state. Which annexure fits your situation, and what the Government actually commits to on timing, is explained in Annexure-1, 2 and 3 fees.
Counts are facts; the explanations below are our reading of them after nine years of filing Gazette applications, and are labelled as such.

Adding the 7,941 single notices in Part-II Extra, and assuming the same pace for the rest of the year, the total is roughly 81,000 a year. These are our counts from the Government's public PDFs.
Ahmedabad, with 11,427 entries in 2026 so far (20.9% of the state). It is followed by Rajkot (13.6%), Surat (13.3%) and Vadodara (6.0%). The smallest counts are in Narmada, Chhota Udepur and Dang.
7,941 single-applicant notices were published in Part-II Extra (the Annexure-2 ₹2,500 urgent and Annexure-3 ₹1,000 standalone routes) up to 7 Oct 2026, around 863 a month. That is about 1 in 8 of all name-change publications; the rest use the ₹300 Annexure-1 route and appear in the weekly list.
From the Gujarat Government Gazette PDFs published free on egazette.gujarat.gov.in by the Directorate of Government Printing & Stationery. We count every notice in each weekly Part-II issue of the Rajkot Government Press, read the district from the printed address, and take the Part-II Extra totals from the portal's own search counts. The Government does not publish these summaries itself.
