After marriage, a spelling fix or a formal change β here's how to change the name on your Voter ID, and when a Gazette is (and isn't) needed.
A Voter ID name change usually follows a marriage, a formal name change, or a spelling that doesn't match your Aadhaar. As with a driving licence, the route depends on the reason β and a Gazette isn't always required.
Your existing Voter ID/EPIC details, Aadhaar and one more identity proof, proof of the correct name (marriage certificate for a married-name change), and the Gazette and affidavit where a formal change is involved. We confirm the exact list after review. For the "how to" reference, see our Voter ID / EPIC name page.
*All-inclusive of the standard documentation. Newspaper advertisement charges are separate and always disclosed before work begins. The only difference between the plans is processing time.
If a direct correction covers your case, we'll tell you β no Gazette fee you don't need. Where a formal change is involved, we make the documentation clean so everything agrees. See the complete guide.
