What the Voter ID is

The Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC), issued by the Election Commission, is both an electoral document and a widely-accepted identity proof. When its name differs from your Aadhaar or other records, it can cause friction at verification and KYC.

Correction vs change

• A clerical error is usually corrected through the Election Commission's own electoral-roll correction process with a supporting document.
• A genuine name change — after marriage or by choice — is commonly supported by recognised proof such as a Gujarat Gazette.

Common issues we see

• A married name to be updated after marriage.
• A spelling difference from Aadhaar.
• A relative's name (father/husband) recorded differently.
