The Voter ID (EPIC) is a common identity document, so its name should match your others. Here's how corrections and changes are handled.
The Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC), issued by the Election Commission, is both an electoral document and a widely-accepted identity proof. When its name differs from your Aadhaar or other records, it can cause friction at verification and KYC.
The part people get wrong is where a Voter ID name is actually changed. It is not done at the gazette office. On the EPIC, a name correction is handled by the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) of your constituency, through Form 8 (application for correction of entries), which you submit on the Voters' Service Portal (voters.eci.gov.in) or in person via your Booth Level Officer (BLO). The Gujarat Gazette is what you attach as proof of the new name for a genuine change; a minor spelling fix that already matches your other IDs can often go through on existing documents alone.
The trap unique to the Voter ID is the relative's-name field. Your father's or husband's name is a separate entry from your own, and it has its own correction. People fix their own name, forget the relative's field, and then hit a fresh mismatch at the next roll revision or verification. If both need changing, correct them together in the same Form 8 so the record is internally consistent.
For example, a woman updating to her married name after marriage typically needs both her own name and the husband's-name field aligned β and, if she has moved constituencies, a Form 8 for the shift too. Doing these as one clean set, with the gazette attached, avoids the repeated ERO queries that drag a simple correction out for weeks.
