Gujarat Gazette Name Change Cost: What You Pay and Why

No hidden charges. Here's exactly what you pay, what's included, and what's separate.

The two packages

Our Gujarat Gazette service comes in two clear packages:

Normal Gazette

₹3,000 all-inclusive*
  • Government fees & e-stamp
  • Affidavit drafting & notary
  • Document preparation & filing
  • Courier & end-to-end support
  • ⏱️ Processing up to 45–60 days
  • Acknowledgement in 24–48 hrs

What's included

Both plans cover the standard documentation end to end: government fees, e-stamp charges, affidavit drafting, notary, document preparation, application filing and courier. There are no hidden charges for the standard process. The only difference between the two plans is processing time.

What's charged separately

Our transparent-pricing promise

No hidden charges. No surprise fees. Any additional cost required by a special circumstance is explained and approved by you before that work begins.

Normal vs Express — the difference

The two plans include exactly the same services; the only difference is processing time. Normal usually takes up to 45–60 days and Express usually up to 30 days, thanks to our expedited internal processing and submission workflow. Express does not receive any preferential approval or priority from the Government, and neither plan can speed up the Government Press's own publication timeline, which is outside our control. With both plans your acknowledgement number is issued within 24–48 hours after payment.

Every rupee, itemised — DIY vs our plan (2026)

People sometimes ask us: "Can't I just do all this myself?" You can — and we'd rather show you the honest math than hide it. Here is what each part of the work costs at typical 2026 market rates in Gujarat if you arrange it on your own, next to what happens inside our Normal plan.

What the work involvesDoing it yourself (typical market rates)Inside our ₹3,000 Normal plan
E-stamp paper for the affidavit₹20–₹50Included
Drafting the affidavit correctly₹200–₹500 (typist or advocate)Included — drafted to match the target record exactly
Notary attestation₹100–₹500 depending on the notaryIncluded
Application form preparation and scrutinyYour own time — and one wrong field can mean rejectionIncluded, checked by our review lead before filing
Government publication feeThe portal's online-payment page currently shows ₹300 (Annexure-1, Ordinary), ₹1,000 (Annexure-3, Ordinary, single name) or ₹2,500 (Annexure-2, Extraordinary, single name) — which one applies depends on your case; confirm at filingIncluded
Travel for filing and follow-upOften 2–3 trips to the Press if you file on paper — fuel plus a working day each time — or the portal's online route (register, fill, pay), which has its own learning curveNone — we file and follow up for you
Courier of your printed copies₹100–₹300Included — 3 printed copies plus soft copy on publication day
Tracking until publicationYour own calls and visitsIncluded — acknowledgement number within 24–48 hours, then we track it

Add it up and DIY cash costs land somewhere between roughly ₹700 and ₹3,900 before the newspaper step, depending mainly on which government fee applies to your case — so yes, doing everything yourself is cheaper in pure cash. What you're paying us for is the part that doesn't show up in a table: zero errors, zero trips to Gandhinagar, and one accountable office to call until your Gazette is in your hands. If you'd still prefer the DIY route, our free guides walk you through it honestly — start with the form guide.

What a ₹999 advertisement usually turns into

You will see gazette services advertised online for ₹999 or similar. We've written about this pattern before, and the arithmetic is worth seeing in one place. The headline price rarely includes the actual work — each piece comes back as an "extra" after you've paid:

StageHow it's billed after you've paid the headline price
Advertised price₹999 "gazette name change"
Affidavit drafting"Documentation charges" — extra
Notary"Attestation charges" — extra
Government fee"Actuals" — extra
Newspaper advertisement"Mandatory publication" — extra, often at a marked-up rate
Courier / copiesExtra
"Urgent" or "priority" handlingOffered mid-process, once you're committed

Some operators' own published pages disclose final packages of ₹2,500–₹7,500 behind a ₹999 headline. We're not against anyone's pricing — we're against finding out the real price after you've paid. Whoever you choose, get the all-inclusive figure and the list of exclusions in writing before the first rupee changes hands. Our two exclusions are stated above, and they're the only two. Read the full ₹999 awareness note on our pricing page.

Market-rate ranges above are indicative for Gujarat as of July 2026 and vary by city and provider; the government fee options are as displayed on the official portal's online-payment page in August 2026. Reviewed and updated: 23 August 2026.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What's included in the ₹3,000 / ₹5,500 fee?
Government fees, e-stamp, affidavit drafting, notary, document preparation, filing and courier. Newspaper advertisement and any special affidavits are separate.
Why is the newspaper cost separate?
Because it varies by city, newspaper and advertisement size. We disclose the expected cost before proceeding, so there are no surprises.
Does Express make the government publish faster?
No. Express prioritises the steps we control. The Government Press's publication timeline is outside anyone's control.

Normal plan: your Gujarat Gazette within 60 days. Express (extraordinary Gazette): within 30 days — counted from the date full payment is received and your application number is generated. Nobody can fix the Government Press’s exact publication date, so instead of a promise we cannot keep, we give you a real remedy: if we miss the window you get a full refund of everything you paid us — and we still complete your Gazette at no further service charge. In practice most of our filed gazettes publish within about 15 days of filing; the 60/30-day windows are your written safety net. The guarantee is issued in writing with your quote.
