Why date of birth is different from a name

Unlike a name, a date of birth is a fact anchored to your birth record, and authorities treat it far more strictly. Because of that, many bodies — notably UIDAI (Aadhaar) — do not accept a Gazette to change a date of birth, and DOB updates are tightly restricted.

Where DOB corrections actually happen

• The birth record / Registrar — the foundational date, corrected through the registrar's process where there's a genuine error.
• The school/board — the DOB on academic records, corrected through the board's own process, usually with the birth certificate.
• The issuing authority — each document (Aadhaar, PAN, passport) applies its own DOB-update rules and evidence requirements.
• A court — in some situations a court order is the route, particularly for contested or significant changes.

What we can — and can't — do

We're upfront: for a name we can prepare the Gazette and documentation. For a date of birth, we'll tell you honestly that a Gazette is generally not the answer, and point you to the correct authority process (registrar, board, or the specific document's rules) — and, where a court is required, to a qualified legal professional. That honesty is the point.
