Date of Birth on Your Documents

A date-of-birth mismatch is a common worry — but the honest answer is that a Gazette is usually not the route. Here's what actually helps.

Why date of birth is different from a name

Unlike a name, a date of birth is a fact anchored to your birth record, and authorities treat it far more strictly. Because of that, many bodies — notably UIDAI (Aadhaar) — do not accept a Gazette to change a date of birth, and DOB updates are tightly restricted.

Be clear-eyed about this

A Gujarat Gazette records a name change; it is generally not the accepted route to change a date of birth. Anyone suggesting a Gazette will simply change your DOB everywhere is not giving you the full picture.

Where DOB corrections actually happen

What we can — and can't — do

We're upfront: for a name we can prepare the Gazette and documentation. For a date of birth, we'll tell you honestly that a Gazette is generally not the answer, and point you to the correct authority process (registrar, board, or the specific document's rules) — and, where a court is required, to a qualified legal professional. That honesty is the point.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a Gazette change my date of birth?
Generally no. A Gazette records a name change; it is not the accepted route for a date-of-birth change, and bodies like UIDAI do not accept it for DOB. The correct route is the issuing authority (registrar, board, or the document's own DOB rules), or a court where required.
My school record and Aadhaar show different dates of birth — what do I do?
Each is corrected through its own authority — the board for academic records (usually with the birth certificate), and the document's own DOB-update process for Aadhaar. We'll point you the right way honestly.
Will you help me change my DOB with a Gazette?
We won't suggest a Gazette for a DOB, because it generally isn't accepted. We'll explain the correct authority route, and recommend a qualified legal professional if a court is needed.
