UIDAI limits how many times the name on an Aadhaar can be changed — commonly understood as twice in a lifetime. This checker helps you work out where you stand before you spend money on a Gazette you may not be able to use yet, or discover a blocked update at the worst moment.
You answer a few plain questions about whether you have changed your Aadhaar name before and what change you now need. Based on your answers it indicates the likely route: a normal update if you still have an attempt available, or UIDAI's exception-handling process if your limit is exhausted. It also reminds you of the rule that trips most people up — the old name in your Gazette must match your current Aadhaar exactly.
