Your APAAR (ABC ID) name doesn't match your Aadhaar or school records? Here's exactly why it happens and how to fix it in the right order.
Your APAAR ID (also called the ABC ID β the Academic Bank of Credits identifier) is created from your Aadhaar details. So the name on your APAAR is essentially pulled from your Aadhaar record. A mismatch shows up when the name on your Aadhaar doesn't match the name on your school or college records β or when your name has genuinely changed and only some records were updated.
This message appears when the details you type while creating or linking your APAAR ID — usually on DigiLocker or through your school or college — do not match the record your institution has already uploaded for you. The comparison is strict: a missing middle name, a different surname order, an initial instead of a full name, or a different date of birth is enough to trigger it.
If your college does not appear in the list, the usual reason is that the institution has not yet registered or finished its onboarding on the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) platform. That is not a name problem and a student cannot fix it from their side — ask your college’s admin or exam office to check their ABC registration.
