Udyam (MSME) registration on the Udyam portal is tied to the entrepreneur's Aadhaar and PAN, and it pulls the name from them. That makes the order non-negotiable: gazette first, then Aadhaar, then PAN, and only then update or re-verify Udyam so it reflects the new name β ideally picking it up automatically from the corrected Aadhaar/PAN.
The gotcha is trying to change the Udyam name while Aadhaar still shows the old one. Because the portal validates against Aadhaar, that creates a conflict rather than an update, and you end up redoing it. Get the identity records right first and the business registration follows cleanly.
This matters beyond Udyam itself, because your GST, business bank account, and current accounts often key off the same name.
