Harsiddhi Services Β· GujaratGazette.com Β· +91 70692 98711 Β· Vadodara
1. Before you start β gather these
- Proof of identity (Aadhaar / PAN / passport)
- Proof of address
- A document showing your current (old) name
- A document supporting the new name (e.g. marriage certificate, where relevant)
- Passport-size photograph(s)
- Decide the exact new name β spelling, initials and order β that you want everywhere
- Note where you'll use the Gazette (Aadhaar, PAN, passportβ¦) β tell us before drafting
2. The process, step by step
- Confirm whether you actually need a Gazette (we assess honestly)
- Notarised affidavit prepared with your old and new name
- Newspaper advertisement β usually one English + one Gujarati paper
- Gazette application filed with the Government Press
- Acknowledgement number received (typically 24β48 hrs after payment)
- Gazette published β you receive the digital copy, then printed copies
3. Mistakes that cause rejection β avoid these
- Old/new name spelled differently across affidavit, newspaper ad and ID
- Newspaper wording not matching the affidavit exactly
- Missing details in the affidavit (date of birth, father's/husband's name where expected)
- Not telling us where the Gazette will be used (e.g. Aadhaar needs the old name to match exactly)
- Poor-quality scans or incomplete documents
- Not disclosing every spelling variation you have across records
4. After the Gazette β update in this order
- Aadhaar (UIDAI) β often first, as many others check against it
- PAN (Income Tax Department)
- Passport (Passport Seva) β with supporting documents
- Bank accounts & KYC
- EPFO / UAN, insurance, investments
- Voter ID, driving licence, property and education records as needed
Newspaper advertisement charges are separate and confirmed before work begins. This checklist is general guidance; your exact documents depend on your case. A Gujarat Gazette is proof of a name change β it does not update documents automatically, and no service can guarantee a government outcome.
