A minor correction to a ration-card name is usually handled through the civil supplies department's own process with a supporting document. A deliberate name change β after marriage, for example β is often supported by recognised proof such as a Gujarat Gazette.

The ration card has quietly become more than a subsidy document β its link to Aadhaar-based e-KYC means a name mismatch can now interrupt food-security benefits and, in some cases, complicate address or family-record verification. When the name on the ration card does not match the Aadhaar it is linked to, the e-KYC can fail, and the correction becomes urgent rather than routine.
Updates to the ration card are handled by the state civil-supplies / PDS authority under its own process. For a straightforward correction, the supporting documents you hold may suffice; for a formal change of name, recognised proof such as a Gazette establishes the change so the card β and the family database behind it β can be brought in line. Because the ration card carries the whole household, it is worth checking that every member's name is consistent, not only your own.
The most common trigger we see is an e-KYC failure that surfaces at the fair-price shop or during a re-verification drive. Resolving it means aligning the ration-card name with the Aadhaar it is checked against β the same "one consistent name" principle that governs every other record.
