A name mismatch on a policy can complicate a claim. Here's how corrections work.
Life, health and other insurance policies are held in a policyholder's (and nominee's) name, checked against identity documents at claim time. A mismatch β a maiden name after marriage, or a spelling difference β can complicate a claim or a policy servicing request.
A minor correction is usually handled by the insurer's endorsement process with a supporting document. A genuine name change is often supported by recognised proof such as a Gujarat Gazette.
Where a name change underlies the endorsement, we prepare the Gazette and documentation. See our marriage name change and one & same person services. The insurer decides the endorsement under its own rules.
Tell us your situation and we'll guide you on the right documentation β including whether a Gazette is even needed.
