Investment KYC is strict about names matching your PAN. Here's how a correction works and the order to do it in.
Demat accounts and mutual fund folios are KYC-verified against your PAN, which in turn must agree with your Aadhaar. Securities markets are regulated by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), while individual depositories, registrars and fund houses run their own KYC and update processes.
A folio or demat account opened in a maiden name, or a spelling/initial difference from your PAN, is the usual cause. PAN and Aadhaar names that themselves differ, or different documents used across platforms, add to it.
For a minor difference, the platform's own update may suffice. Where a genuine name change underlies it, a Gujarat Gazette establishes one consistent name that PAN, Aadhaar and your investment records can align to. Each platform then updates its record through its own KYC process.
We help align PAN and Aadhaar to one correct name, then guide the demat and folio updates. See our demat/mutual fund problem page and PAN name change. Each platform applies its own KYC rules.
Tell us what your PAN, Aadhaar and investment records show, and we'll advise the order to align them.
