EPFO manages provident fund and your UAN. Here's how name corrections work β and why your employer often plays a part.
The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) administers provident fund, pension and insurance for salaried employees, tied to your Universal Account Number (UAN). EPFO relies on your UAN being KYC-verified against Aadhaar and PAN.
Employers often enrol staff for EPFO years ago, sometimes spelling the name differently from Aadhaar. When you claim, withdraw or transfer, that difference surfaces and holds the request.
A minor difference may be handled through EPFO's own correction route, frequently with employer attestation. For a genuine name change (e.g. after marriage) or a substantial difference, a Gujarat Gazette establishes one consistent name to support the correction.
We establish one consistent name (matching Aadhaar) and guide the sequence, including for old accounts where the employer is no longer active. See our EPFO name mismatch service and the stuck-claim problem page.
Tell us your situation and we'll guide you on the right documentation β including whether a Gazette is even needed.
